Does anyone know if the 86 has a removable ROM, or is it just like the 85?
If the ROM is removable, we could put a mini Linux kernel and several
pared-down GNU apps into it. Check out http://www.linux.org.uk . There's
an ongoing project to port Linux to sundry small-time processors like the
8088, 68000, and Z80. If I remember correctly, the kernel is about 120KB,
which is only about 1/4 of the TI-86 ROM size. We could probably strip it
down even further, considering the limited number of devices we'd have to
support.
It probably doesn't have a removable ROM, though.
