Its not dead, just not nearly as active as it used to be. ;)
One reason why programmers will only program for the 86 (and not for the 85
and thus for the 86) is because they only have TI-86's and not older
TI-85's. Sure, they could get a ROM image and run an emulator, but its just
not the same as playing on the calculator itself. You just don't get the
same feel.
Another reason is that many TI-86 programmers either just don't think about
it or just don't care. :)
