you just need to put a coipyright notice on the programs.  it should be
included in the source code and be displayed when the program is executed.
just keep it in there and the copyright exists.  if you want to send it to
the copyright office, jsut do it once, and all the revisions/etc are also
copyrighted.  if you make a sequal or whatever, that should be copyrighted
seperately.  
but legally, jsut by puttin hte notice on, its copyrighted, whether or not
you sent it to the copyright office.  that just makes it stand up in court
more solidly.
