I don't know if this helps but I noticed that when the fading starts, my
original contrast is 18.  It then proceeds to lower the contrast to 17,
but after that, it seems to go crazy and it jumps to 47 then freezes and
the program never finishes.  If it does jump to 47, this might disprove
my concept that the contrast ranged from 0 - 32.
