I tried writing to the GRAPH_MEM in Balloon, too. Practically impossible.
Tried to hack the TI's font, but it's stored differently in ROM 3-8 / 9-10!!
You should use a bitmapped font you wrote on your own.

The HP 48 is nice, but it's darn slow. Two of my classmate's got one. They
graph one equation in the time I draw two... The point is that it has a 4
mHz _64_ bit processor!! Whew.
