You misunderstand with Zilog, they aren't as anal nor as big as Intel.
Intel is the _ONLY_ IC manufacturer I know of that won't give you stacks
of databooks on request for free.  Check out Zilog's
webpage(http://www.zilog.com), they'll be incredibly eager to send you
databooks.  Remember, they WANT you to use their product in your designs,
and how can you if you don't know how?  TTYL!
