apt-get is good, but you have to pay attention. When I ran an upgrade, it
installed xfree86-4.1.0!!!
It sucks so much, now I don't have a useful graphical desktop... You
should get 3.3.6 instead, or
you could give a try to 4.2.1 (www.xfree86.org), which unfortunately
doesn't support my ramdac,
but might work for you. 3.x.x is a safe choice IMHO.
