Yes, but "K" is accurate in that context. There are two accepted meanings
for metric suffixes. One is powers of ten (i.e. 1000) and one is powers of
two (i.e. 1024). A kilometer is 1000 meters and a kilobyte is 1024 bytes.
Both are correct and neither is ambiguous.
