I've used redhat, and am currently using mandrake, but I agree with you,
mandrake installs too much, making the computer a bit slow, and most annoying
problem of all: if you choose the graphic boot, and accidentally start a
program which requires user input during start up. You'll get the impression
the comp hangs.
