[A83] Re: Problems with Virtual TI [OT]

I haven't installed it from scratch, but I tried upgrading from Windows
2000, and it was completely unusable. I have a Celeron 466 with 384 MB and
it was much slower than Windows 2000. There are many very obvious bugs,
both cosmetic and functional. CD burning did not work with any software.
Any attempts to run any CD burning software would cause the application to
lock up, and it could not be killed. So much for a "stable" operating
system when you can't kill an application (even with things like prcview
that could kill anything on Windows 2000, even system processes). The only
way to make the system shut down afterwards without hitting the reset button
was to kill a system process, and trigger it's automatic one minute restart.
Windows 2000 is much, much more stable, and a lot faster. If there is a
game that just won't run on Windows 2000, then keep a second install of
Windows 98SE. I don't think XP will help you. It's a nice try, but it will
another version or two before they have something as usable as Windows 2000.
