One of my friends had just the same type of crash and when he brought
the calculator to TI, they said that it's a problem because of the
production of calculator, not because of the user. They changed his
calculator with a new one with base 1.10. (The crashed calc had base
1.12)
Also about the professional fix. I didn't try this on the crashed
calc, but it should work. (At least, it works with other types of
crashes.) I think you know, in the guidebook, there's a way to make
the calculator on. You uninstall one of the batteries and hold clear
key while installing the battery again. After installing the battery,
you hold both clear and on keys and turn the calc on. Then do some
sort of reset (RAM or Arc, doesn't matter.)
