I have both an 86 and an 89.  Here's my point of view -- the 89 is AWESOME
for math - I mean astounding... You can do ANYTHING and best of all, you can
use it on the AP Calculus test which it is really helpful on.  The 89 has
more memory and better assembly programming.. learning 68k is not that
hard -- it isn't that big of a change from z80, the basics are the same, but
it gets frustrating to switch.. Once you start, you can work miracles with
it.. I've drawn my first moving grayscale sprite in 68k which I never did in
z80 on the 86.. The 89 is the way to go IMHO, and it's only $10 more or so..
