Yeah, it's easy to build -
Get a basic transceiver that gives you the ability to change frequency and
runs on about 4.5 volts.
Cut the link cable that came with your calc in half
You can use attach two transceivers if you want, powered by a single 9-volt
battery. The transceiver should have 4 wires, two for + and - electric
connections, and the others should be soldered to the internal input and
output wires of the calc cable.
You may need something like a 3.5k ohm resistor if your lcd goes black (too
much power)
