I had the same problem with my calculator and it happened just after the
warrenty ran out.  For a while i got it to work by applying pressure to the
link port by pushing it in with my had while I was transmitting or plug the
cable in and stand it uprigth on a flat surface and press down on it hard.
This should work if the problem is the same.  It worked for me for a while
untill it finnaly died.  Since i bought it at my school store, i gave it
back to him and he sent it back to TI and gave me a brand new one.
