They are exactly the same speed; 6 mhz.  The only difference between the 8x
(not sure about 80 & 81) series of calculators is the ROM and other
circuitry.  How the ROM is called and what is in the ROM, and how much of it
is taken up by user defined variables is what really determines the speed.
That's why the 86 is a bit slower at times than the 85.  The 86 has more ROM
to sift through to find what it's looking for.  But, since the 82 and 83 are
essentially the same rom, just the 83 has some newer features, the 83 should
be almost the same speed as the 82.

The noticable difference in running some programs might not actually be the
calculators, but the actual program.  The 82 programs that you are comparing
it to may be smaller and more efficient with its loops, calls, etc.
