Hmm, I guess it's possible. First, you'd need the Ash shell. Then you'd have to make a program that contained the code to turn off the calc that Sam posted earlier. This program would need to be compiled so it could be run from the TI-OS, just like a regular non-asm program. Then you could call it from within your own BASIC program. I don't know if you'd still be inside your program when the calc turned back on though.
