I would think that 'content over apperance' does not apply to Java
because
Java can be easily ported to any use, even to remote controls.
I even saw a house 'kind-of' Java house, it was all controlled by a
computer.
(I only have to say that 'cause my friend works on Java for Sun)

Yes, and although you don't I do call it a programming language. HTML is
a language specified by
 'compile-on-demand' which is like JavaScript, VBscript, and one
interesing UN*X Language called Perl.
 (I adore that language)
Perl is very close to C, but is compile-on-demand and I can let no one
tell me that it's not a language.
Anyways, HTML is compiled and shown by the browser. (That's what Netscape
adds)

but, HTML does have variables: (i'm doing this off my head, so don't
chide me)
<META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
<META NAME="GENERATOR" CONTENT="Mozilla/4.04 [en] (Win95; U) [Netscape]">
: )
Oh, yeah, Netscape is offering source code soon. Interesting bit
