I have not tried using the ANS variable in a program for the TI82 (yet),
but since the routines look like the ones on the TI85 it should not be a
problem. 

On the TI85 i helped a  guy write a program which display ANS converted to
a fraction (including sqrts). So if ANS was 1.23717914.... the program
would display 5*sqrt(3)/7. All this was done in asm using the build in
routines.
