David Ellsworth Retires
Posted on 28 July 1998, 09:03 GMT

David Ellsworth, the programmer responsible for gracing us with the existence of Fargo, has decided to retire from ticalc.org. He cited reasons being his lack of time for many concurrent projects and his wish to devote more time to programming and other interests.

I hope this doesn't mean David has retired from TI calculator programming and Fargo as well. He has made some very significant contributions to the community. From what I gather, though, it only signifies his "retirement" as a member of the ticalc.org staff.

That's right. David has only retired from the ticalc.org staff. He is still continuing work on Fargo II, making Fargo ports for the TI-92 Plus and the TI-89, and other projects such as Tiger.

Speaking of tiger, how is development coming on it? I still have xtiger-0.75p(pentium), and it performs beautifully. The last I'd heard, Jonas Minnberg (the original developer of Tiger) and David Ellsworth had decided to 'go their separate ways' of sorts, meaning David would not be assisting Jonas with development of his tiger, but would instead create his own version. I haven't seen a release of his TI-92 emulator yet.

Have you figured out a way to save everything on the emulator.(Tiger) Every time I use it I have to load things that I want/need to have on it, this has become a really big pain. If you know what I mean.

So what about the Fargo page now?

When I complained that the "Fargo page was yet to be updated for the new site," Allah told me it was David's Job. So who does it fall on now? Will it FINALLY be updated? :)

Ah.. er.. the Fargo page should have been David's department all along, only it never really happened as planned. Unfortunately, it's also pretty low on our priority list, but we will get to it as soon as we can. Given our track record on this, don't hold your breath, but it's definitely on our to-do list.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Did he have his own commericial or something? I thought I saw an MPEG of him and he had some red hair fro. Or was that a parity. Or am I just insane?

Yeah, he was in the "Born Red" Coke commercial duing the Super Bowl. David digitalized his commercial into several AVI videos. If you want to get them, you should contact David.
