VERSION HISTORY:
Version 1.0
- Initial release
- Added Grayscale FF7 logo to Ti-89 Edition.
Version 1.1
- Fixed Deathblow Materia causing Syntax Error. Special Thanks goes to David Boven for the E-mail.
Version 1.2
- Really No Code upgrades in this Release. This release adds some features asked for by various Players of the
Game.
- Inserted FF7 into It's Own Folder.
- Added Icons Support. For this To work you must Have FF7 Installed, The Icons Program Management System Installed,
and Insert9 installed in the Main Folder of your Ti-89. Just use the Icon-Add System to add an FF7 Icon to the
Interface.
Version 1.3
- Fixed the Split Screen mode program. it was originally structured for the Ti-92, but the screen size of the
Ti-89 doesn't support some of the screen sizes that the 92 did, So I removed them. Not only does it save memory,
but I believe that this was the reason my 89 crashed during the conversion process. I have yet to get e-mails saying
that FF7 crashed a calculator, but I feel that since it's not supported, it shouldn't be there
Version 1.4
- Adds all features found in the User Patch 1 Release of FF7. This Includes a Map Feature and Disabling of Graphs
that may be defined in the Y= Screen Thanks to Tip DS for this release.
- Fixed 3D Graph "Invalid For the Current mode Settings" Error
- Fixed Tifa's Limit Bar. Now when it's full, She will limit break instead of possibly not limit breaking under
certain circumstances.
- Fixed some cosmetic problems with the storyline.
- optimized parts of the FF7 engine to save size.
CONVERSION AND BUG REPORT NOTES
Note: FF7 has been directly ported from the Ti-92 to the Ti-89, I have tested it
for errors and have found none, but the Ti-89 is different from the Ti-92 and may crash where the Ti-92 would not.
If it does crash, please E-mail me exactly what you did to crash it, the error, and if possible, exactly where
in the program it crashed. Ill try to figure it out as soon as I can.
Addendum: During the Conversion Process, My Ti-89 Crashed in which I had to reset
it. I tried to recreate the Crash and couldn't. I'm also noticing the Ti-89 screwing up some of the sprite pictures,
but nothing that seems to be permanent. I suggest you back up all mission critical data on our ti-89 before running
FF7 as a safety precaution in case it crashes. Read Page 547 in your Ti-89 Manual if the calculator does crash
for some reason and E-mail me Exactly when in the Game it occurred so I can hopefully fix it. Of course, I can
take no responsibility if FF7 does crash your Ti-89 and you lose Data because of it.
Sending Bug Reports: If you do find a problem, Please State EXACTLY what you do
to cause it so we can repeat it. Also, It would be very helpful to send us everything that is on your calculator
so we can figure out if software you may also have installed is conflicting somehow with FF7. If we E-mail you
back, PLEASE RESPOND! It drives us nuts when people e-mail us saying basically "I was Playing FF7 and it Crashed"
and when we e-mail them for more information, They never reply. We want to make the Highest Quality Game possible,
But that cant be accomplished if we receive no (or Useless) information about possible bugs in the software. Remember,
The More Information you give us about the crash, the Better! Just Remember that Ed And Damon are not Psychics.
:P
Please send all Bug Reports to lizard@infonline.net
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
Upgrading FF7: Because much of the code has changed since the last release, it
it highly recommended that FF7 be Freshly installed.
- Backup the File FF7C
- Delete the FF7 folder from your calculator
- Following the New Installation of FF7 instructions
- After you do so, You can send FF7C back to your calculator in order to keep your saved game.
New Installation of FF7:
- Send the file ff7.89g to your Ti-89.
- If you want to archive the program, Do it by checkmarking the FF7 folder and select archive variable in the
Manage Menu.
- At the home screen in the main folder, type in ff7\ff7() and press enter. It should run then.
- If you have the Icons Program Management System Installed on your Ti-89, Send the file insert9,89p to your
ti-89. Then Run the Icon Add system to define the Icon onto the Interface.
WARNING: Do not attempt to load a
game unless you saved it first! It will crash if you attempt to do so! Also, The only files that should be archived
Are Programs and Pictures. Archiving any other types of files will cause the program to crash!
HOW TO PLAY (the basics):
Most of the interface uses the built in TI-BASIC routines found on the Ti-92 (Enter confirms choices, Esc cancels
choices, menubars ETC.) except for the fight sequences, in which its self explanatory. Storylines use pause, so
you have to press enter to progress through the storyline sequences. Remember that you must Equip materia before
you can use it (if there is a number 1 next to the item, it means you own it). It's also a good idea to save often.
Also, remember that FF7 uses a HI speed real-time engine, so if you get into a fight, you either pay attention
or die!
This picture explains what all of the numbers mean in FF7. If you played the Playstation or PC Versions of this
game, you should really have no problem understanding this. |

Still have no clue what to do? Go to http://www.geocities.com/~hiryu_rhys/ffguide.html.
It will give you the basics on what to do in the game.
WHAT IS FINAL FANTASY 7 AND WHO MADE IT?
Final Fantasy 7 (the Playstation/PC version), the characters and the storyline were developed by SquareSoft. it's
one of the Best RPG ever to grace a console system. it's also the longest with over 1 Gig of space spread out on
three CD disks. It took over two years to complete the game and release it. Many people bought Playstations just
for this one game. If you own a Playstation and don't own this game, it's about time you go buy it. If you don't
own a Playstation, Get the PC Version of the game. Obviously, your on some kind of computer if you're reading this
Final Fantasy 7, Cloud's Quest (the Ti-92/Ti-89 version) was developed by Damon D'ambrosi of Nomad Software and
Ed Fry of Fryed Software. It's based on the SquareSoft characters but builds on the already perfect storyline that
SquareSoft developed. it takes about 50000 memory on the calculator just to store the code and the pictures. it
took over three months to complete, test and release. It's possibly one of the best TI-BASIC program ever seen
on any Texas instrument calculator.
THINGS THAT WE MAY PUT IN A FUTURE VERSION OF FF7.
Storyline: originally we had 6 notebook pages of storyline for FF7 but, we had to condense
it to 1 page.
Cameo guest appearances: Originally, every FF7 character was in it in one form or another.
They would either give you information or just tell you something useless. Guess why these were removed!
Graphical spells & summons: Memory restrictions killed these.
Multiple spells for bosses and enemies: they had originally three separate spells, but
we again cut these in favor of the system we use now.
Multiple enemies on board: you fight only one enemy in this game, but we tested the real-time
engine to handle over 20 (it was slow. It was tested at 20 but it can handle even more, it just gets slower as
you add fighters to it). we decided to have one enemy to further cut the memory usage.
More towns: memory restricted these.
Items cut down: they took a ton of memory and did basically nothing.
Inventory system: Originally, FF7 was going to use a inventory system for things like
powerups, health and magic bonuses, etc. This was cut due to the fact that it would add about 3000 Memory to the
system not to mention that the enemy would destroy you if you couldn't find what you were looking for.
These features may be included in a later release (Director's edition).
