Spitfire Productions (www.spitfireproductions.tk) - Benjamin Ryves (www.calc83plus.tk)
What is it? |
It is a fantastically useless piece of code that will nethertheless impress friends and family alike with its amazing ability to remote control an attached TI-83 Plus. The really funky feature of this code is that the calculator which you are remote-controlling requires no extra programs whatsoever! |
Installing | |
Send the program to your calculator using TI-Connect, FastLink, TiLP or whichever linking program you are using. Now, enter on the homescreen ASM(prgmREMOTEC and press enter. The screen to the right is shown. Select 1 to install the program, 2 to Uninstall the program, or 3 to Exit. |

Using | |
It won't have seemed to anything if you have installed it - but it has. Plug in another calculator to the link port - ensure it is on the home screen - and type on yours. Hooray! You will notice that any keys you press on your calculator are picked up by both calculators! It is quite important to uninstall the program from the remote controlling calculator before you unlink the calculators - no harm will be done if you do, but any key pressed will result in an 'ERR:Link' error. In this case, there is a special 'panic' keystroke - 2nd+Quit. This will bring up the prompt at the bottom of the screen: 'CLEAR to Remove' Pressing 'Clear' at this point will force uninstall the program, stopping the link between the calculators. If you need to press 2nd+Quit to control the calculator at the other end to perform a 2nd+Quit operation, you will need to press a key other than Clear to continue with the request. |

Bugs/Glitches |
This isn't meant to be the worlds greatest program (or most useful), and you can't really complain at 319 bytes. The text screens (CLEAR to Remove, install details) seem to leave a 'residue' - text that seems not clear properly. Just hit Clear to get rid of it. Email me on benryves@techie.com for help. |
Credits, and What Comes Next... |
Thanks to Cirrus programming, from whom I adapted the key hooking code and remote controlling routines into a 'neater' package. Maybe I can incorporate a funkier program, that displays the display of the remotely controlled calculator as you control it... |
