Is there any way to change your vote? I've decided that I really like it.

On that note, is there anyway to change my name to "Lewk of Serthic", instead of "Lewk Of Serthic"?

I agree with this... the stuff you can do on that site is cool (make your own threads and polls), but I don't go there very often at all, since ticalc.org provides all the news, programs, and entertainment (hehe) that I need. :)

yes i agree the site layout is excellent, but not quite the best. vaguely postnuke-ish, but I prefer phpnuke by far. the best site layout i've ever seen was a custom layout for postnuke... I screenshotted the whole thing :)

ever heard of a CMS? Take a huge site like slashdot. Dozens of news items a day, tens (even hundreds) of thousands of comments a day. Do you think that every time someone wants to post a comment, the comment is emailed to the admin to manually paste into a table template and add to the comments page? Or that every news item must be added manually, added to the search and topic index all by hand? Thus the beauty of the CMS is born. Standing for Content Management System, CMS allows easy, web-based access to your site, auto-indexing and sorting all comments, news, polls, and users. A large system like this costs anywhere from free (PostNuke, a php-based CMS that focuses on security more than accessability and sleekness; PHP-Nuke, another php-based CMS that's renouned for its power and ease of use; aspnuke, an ASP-based CMS) to thousands of dollars (can't quite remember the name). I use PHPnuke myself, and though it's certainly the most accessable CMS, it's really buggy and tweaking it is really dangerous. It ships with a couple of deadly bugs on certain platforms, and of course a bit of experience is needed to figure out the phpbb administration system.

"CMS allows easy, web-based access to your site"
that should have been "CMS allows easy, web-based administration to your site"

actually it was aspnuke, i went back and checked. Screenshots at:

http://www.imagepilot.com/ img.dll?x=20040704 _16:38:10_3.PNG
http://www.imagepilot.com/ img.dll?x=20040704 _16:40:53_2.GIF
Note that the last image i had to save as a gif so it's not as detailed and there are two spaces in each link, one after .com/ and the other after x=20040704.

Speaking of comment systems:

I always wanted to know how ticalc.org does its comment system. I've tried to copy that, but I guess I just don't have the skills yet.

Anyway, does anyone know of a script anywhere that I could download to look at the source code? I've e-mailed webmaster@ticalc.org, but I've never gotten a response.
