hey im a basic programmer and im pretty good but i need some help with a project that my teacher gave me the project is to make a program or something like that that can work as an internal id for the calc so that in case ne of his students lose their calc he can identify it easier with out ne hassel. He's looking for something that is basic but cant be figuered out by ne other studnet except those who know about it if you have ne ideas for me please reply or emailme at dauphinp@royhart.org thnx for your time
P.S. the reason he is doing this is because all other methods of marking it on the outside have failed

well I ahve your answer. Every calc has an ID built into it that cannot be changed. On the TI83+ and other similar to it, press [2nd][MEM/+] and choose ABOUT; it should say on that screen what platform and OS version you have, and the built in ID that is unique to each calc (its like a long serial number). I am not sure, but it might even be marked on the outside plasitc case (there are small words molded into it; most devices have such things that say what rules or whatever the device folows), and most appliances have some serial number / ID written on them too...but anyways, just use the ID from the MEM:ABOUT screen).
ALL THE TEACHERS SHOULD HAVE THE STUDENTS WRITE DOWN THEIR NAME AND CALC ID so that nobody can steal people's calcs and get away with it; they should also do a surprise check every now and then or something to catch people off gaurd.
My bro was using my TI89 for a while, and we think it was stolen from his backpack; that bites, because now I will NEVER see it again, and whoever has it can just say they are borrowing it from their friend or something. I would have them keep their eyes open and inquire about any TI89 they see, but what would they care of someone who is out of HS? and if this person is smart, they probably scratched off my name that I engraved in it :-( (next time I will just cut my name so deep that it leave holes all the way through like a stencil, so it can't be scratched off!)

Does anyone know if there's a way to type BASIC programs on the computer? I made this really long program which would take several hours just to type it on the calculator

yes, the tigraphlink software; but it will NOT let you put funny characters that are not explicitly available to the user :-(
The software is old; I am not sure where to get it, but if you download the TI-Connect software (somewhere on this site in the file archives), you can try to click on the program editor, and it will say you dont have that software and should give you an option to download it. Also there are other nice software things that it will look for too :-)
By the way, doesn't it feel good to have SOMEONE read your post? NOBODY ever reads mine; its a few things up, called "Antidisassemblage". In fact, my idea for it grew from the same frustration, but then I figured why not at the same time jsut let it compile to assembly, yadda yadda...read it

Could someone please instruct me as to how to program my new 83Plus to format numbers with a "thousand separator", i.e.:
1,562 in lieu of 1562
21,562 in lieu of 21562
321,562 in lieu of 321562
etc.
Thanks so much for any help.

Could someone design an App that can create StudyCards on the calculator? I may be the only one who uses that little app, but it's quite useful.

Regarding PLASMA
|

I'm sure at least someone out there knows about Plasma (as it is available from this site). The program claims to move files to flash memory and play from there, rather than move them to RAM. this seems very useful, as you can play games even with no free RAM... at least, that's the theory. I have a game however (22288 bytes) and aboug 20000 bytes free, and it won't run o.0

Hi,
can you run java programs on a ti84 calculator or does any compiler exist to compile your programs into a program for a ti calculator?
