Well, I have an 86 with ATE (great program!), and I use it to do PDA-type stuff, but I'd rather use an "actual" PDA, which is why I'm hopefully getting a Palm soon. I don't use it for contacts, and only rarely for scheduling.

yes, I was thinking of using my ti89 for that (ofcourse, than I would have to write a program first.)

However, these calcs aren't very suited for text input so I dropped those plans and bought a palm. (want that new m505 colorscreen one)

I'm also a nerd with a girlfriend.

I can type on my 89 faster than I can write by hand. I use my 89's text editor for all kinds of things. I write homework assignments down in there, have a large file of songs to grep on aimster, and once even wrote an english assignment on it when the family lan got a virus. But then again I browse The Jargon File and the HTML form of MIT AI Lab memo 239 (aka HAKMEM) for fun;)

I do the same, because I have a Ti-92 Plus with a keyboard. I type twice as fast as I write (at least).

If you want a nice PDA, i would recomend either an HP or a handspring platinum. I personally have a palm VIIx, and it's nice but i drool over those other two machines. what i like about the HP is that it runs windows, and plays MP3's, and the prisim has a nicer expansion slot. The new palm has one, but it's not as good, well, now that you are bored, i'll go away now.

I have BOTH a Handspring Visor Platinum with a ThinModem Card, a MP3 Player Module, a 8mb Flash Module, and the EyeModule and a HP Jornada 545 with a 64 MB Compact Flash card. I work at Staples and get a phat discount.
These rule, I haven't powered on mt ti-92 in six months.

P.S. I have a girlfriend, and a 1988 Monte Carlo LS 350 with the Corvette Transmission that I drag race with, so I'm no nerd!

Get a Visor Prism. It's just as good as the platinum, but the proccesor is faster and it has 16-bit color.

I am confused now, is the prism the new hand spring or is the platinum? Wait, they're both new, but which is supposedly better (basically which is more expensive)?

PDA stands for Personal Digital Assistant.

Or, Public Display of Affection, although the other was the intended expansion of the acronym.

I don't use it for PDA plus there isn't any use for a PDA at school either. I could just memorize all the things I need to do in my head so there is no need for a PDA, a calc as a PDA, or a Schedule Book.

But when you're cursed with a horrible memory and evil teachers who love assigning busy work, then a PDA's a godsend IMO. My grade in physics went from a C to an A after I started using my Visor to record homework and projects.

I am in AP Physics "C"(calculus based) and I have an A in the class without putting my homework into the calculator.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Do you use your TI as a PDA?

The point is, I have a terrible memory, and trying to commit things to memory more often than not fails. At the height of extracurricular activities during the winter, I would often have small forests of schedules and homework assignments. The fact that I had somewhere to actually record this stuff without having to refer to an inkblotted mess on paper or a pile of leaflets and scribbled notes in margins helped me greatly.

Also, I only recorded the assignments (i.e., "unit seven, pg. 245-7 A, B"), not the text of the assignments themselves. I can do the work well (evidenced by my lopsided grades for some classes first quarter: all A's on tests, D's on homework).

Not that I'm advocating that everyone do what I do. Perhaps it's an unnecessary item for some, but for many people it's quite helpful.

I would try to start memorizing things
Robert Snyder  Account Info

I had a problem memorizing things also, but then I took the college prep. reading class at my school. And every week we have to memorize something. That increases your ability to remember things, I have noticed that I have been forgeting things less, and can remember things quicker and better than before. Just a neat little trick that might help, but I still write down most of my activities on my planner that was issued by the college (that was nice of them).
