Pushem v1.1, CalcWire Stuff
Posted by Nick on 20 June 2000, 23:00 GMT

PushemOld stuff! I was supposed to make this mad post yesterday, but an emergency White Sox game outing (they won, 6-1, by the way) interrupted such a time-consuming activity.

Now that all that baseball-related action is out of the way, I can tell y'all that Matt Capucilli wrote an interesting game in 89 BASIC the other day called Pushem v1.1. Remember DStar? This is just like it, only with more freedom to move around and, erm, push blocks and stuff.

Also, CalcWire (whose newsletter is coming out the 25th) has been up to a lot of good recently, with the release of two completely 31337 programs. Xtreme Racing, a racing game, is available for Ion on the 83 and the 83 Plus. Painter, featuring four-color grayscale and various interesting/wacky painting tools, is now available for the 89. Download both of these: they look very nice for a group that's just beginning to get on its feet.

How, though? The d and r keys are nowhere near eachother. Ahh, when will you qwerty users learn!?!

What you use Dvorak? People still use that anymore? :-)

May I ask how InterCalc.org got into the comment header?

Umm, you could say the same thing about qwerty, only you'd have a reason to. Qwerty was made to slow people down, where as dvorak was created to speed you up. Do some research and you will see that dvorak is the smart alternative.

ARG

D and R are far apart on a Dvorak KB.

and diagonal on Qwerty.

',.pyfgcrl/=\
aoeuidhtns-
;qjkxbmwvz

is Dvorak.

I use both.

Oh... Great game! I didn't find my link cable... so I used it on VTI, ran fine even at half speed!

Finally! Someone with sense enough to use dvorak, if not at all times. Yes Pushem is good.

Yes it is!! The D is under the R to the left, and why does someone want to use that other keyboard that I cant spell?

That's what i've been saying! Megacar and Supercar are not really racing games. Maybe something like glasscars would be nice, or an update of aerox. Well anyway, tunnel is sorta racing, if you don't mind the homoeroticism. Pushem is nice, though.

By the way, to those not using a dvorak keyboard, click the link to learn your ass some knowledge, and maybe a little ebonics. If you don't know, you best acks somebody.

I'm working on it, but it's going to take some time. It's called AUTOmatix 3D, and v0.01 :-) has been posted to the ticalc.org archives. No idea when they're going to put it up, though. Oh, and it's going to be more like Lotus Turbo Challenge for the PC than anything else. Try it when the first demo comes out.

Finally! I can't wait to see the first demo. If it is a real racer, then hats off to you. Hopefully you'll be the first person to do this right.

Not... yet... It'll take some time, you know. This is only the first demo, more something to look at than to play. But it looks pretty cool. Of course, you CAN play it, but good luck beating yourself on a road where there are no other cars. :-)

At least it's in grayscale.

I didn't know their were any greyscale issues with AMS 2.04. Must be an HW2 problem. I heard that TI-GCC was one of the few things that worked on AMS 2.04.

There shouldn't be, as AMS v2.04 doesn't mess with the display any.

As far as I can tell, that's a HW2 bug.

I agree that it should be a HW2 bug, but it isn't. My HW 1 AMS 2.04 TI-89 (I love saying that, especially to people that know nothing about calculators :)) has the flicker, and I think it may also have happened with AMS 2.03. I'm not sure, though....
