Information
mobileTunes v1.0 is an oncalc MIDI song player for the TI-83, TI-83+, and TI-83 Silver Edition. Using a 2.5mm > 3.5mm stereo adapter or an AM radio, you can listen to songs of any length on your calculator. Installation is very simple, but there are several things that you must note. Firstly, mobileTunes v1.0 is meant to be run under the Doors CS shell for the TI-83 line of calculators, version v4.9.0 delta or higher. You cannot run mobileTunes v1.0 without Doors CS.
mboileTunes v1.0 can also play music files with video encoded into it or slideshows; these are run as any music file is and do not require any additional plugins.
Before you can play a song, you must have a method of playing it. There are three main ways that I recommend. Firstly, you can get a 2.5mm stereo > 3.5mm stereo headphone adapter at RadioShack or any comparable store. Plug the 2.5mm end into your calculator's linkport, plug a pair of headphones or any 3.5mm audio plug into the other end, then follow the directions below. The second method is cheaper but with inferior sound quality, using an AM radio. Playing a song as described below; while it is playing tune a nearby AM radio to a blank spot on the dial. When you can hear the sound from the calculator, you have calibrated your radio and can use it to listen to any song. The third method, if you can't find an adapter, is not recommended but will do in a pinch. Cut a unit-to-unit link cable in half, then connect the copper wire to the base of a 3.5mm stereo jack and the red and white wires to the remaining two connections.
     For TI-83 users: send
mtunes.83p
and any songs (
*.83p
) that you would like to your calculator using your linking software. To play a song, click the icon or name of the song under Doors CS (e.g.

).
     For TI-83+ users: send
mtunes.8xp
and any songs (
*.8xp
) that you would like to your calculator using your linking software. To play a song, click the icon or name of the song under Doors CS (e.g.

Fast forward
mobileTunes v1.0 uses a simple file format that is based on the assocaited program capabilities of Doors CS. This mean that you need only to click on a file and Doors CS will recognize it as a mobileTunes file. It is fairly complicated, so simply use the javascript tool below to create a song. Enter a songname, the notes that you need, and press "Create Song" to create a compilable source code for the TI-83. You need DoorsCS.inc to compile it, available at
ticalc.org

The equations upon which the mobileTunes v1.0 sound generating plugins were developed were created by Dhordain Florent; much thanks to him for his work. Doors CS v4.0 is also a production of Cemetech; it is a GUI shell for the TI-83, TI-83+, and TI-83SE graphing calculators. TI and all TI product names are (C) Texas Instruments, in no way affiliated with Cemetech or Kerm Martian. Please direct all questions and comments to http://www.cemetech.tk.
