i dont use rechargables, but i should, i got a v200 for christmass and have already had to change the batteries twice, i use 1.5v batteries from CVS, but it would be a good investment to spring for some rechargables

I do, but thay last a shorter amount of time... I have a spare set of e^2lithium batteries that I've had for a year in my 89TE that haven't gone dead though (I use it about 3 times a month)

Same here. The calc dies almost immediately after recommending change of batteries.

i think you guys are using wrong kinds of batteries, i have an 83+ se and an 89 titanium(just got it) and i only have to recharge my 4 AAA energizer NI-MH rechargable 4 times a year if i play it a lot( for the ti 83+ se)

my batteries last 3 months with intensive usage... or 1 year with ocasionnal usage (that what i'm up to lately)...if i try to use the link port to pass some new program to all my friends it will last only some weeks...
I think i have the best avaliable rechargeable batteries to my calc... 950mAh on a size AAA is quite a lot... i found size AA from 600mAh to 2800mAh, with some adaptations they can work on calc...
With alcalines i was always changing batteries from month to month...

:D a "shorter" time is (for me) about 3.75 months of continual usage, the e^2Litiums last me about half a year with continual isage, so it is shorter

I've had too many incidents where little AAA batteries explode in the charger, so I tend to stay with the non-Rechargable batteries.

Are you charging the batteries with the right type of charger?

There are 3 types of rechargeable batteries commonly used on small devices... Ni-Cd, Ni-MH and Li-ion (never find size AAA of Li-ion)... usually a Ni-MH charger can charge a Ni-Cd...but... never try to charge a Li-ion on a Ni-xx charger... you will regret it!!!

Note: i never charged a Li-ion battery on a Ni-xx charger... but i saw what happenned...

I wasn't aware that they made Li-Ion batteries in AAA/AA/C/D sizes. I read that Li-Ion batteries required built-in electronics/computerized circuits and a charger designed specifically for them to ensure safe operation.

They also have rechargeable alkaline batteries, but I haven't seen them very often.

I belive that Li-Ion batteries have the wrong cell voltatge to be AAA/AA/C/D cells. it is like 3v I think. I also read that Li-Ion charging was diffrent and had somthing to do whith constant voltage or current, I forget which.

Yeah, its a Rayovac charger with Rayovac rechargable batteries, i fried about 8 of them in this charger. I'm not sure why they exploded though.

What type are they? Rechargeable alkaline, NiCad, NiMH?

I seem to remember reading about people having problems with rechargeable alkaline batteries exploding in chargers. But I haven't had any personal experience with them. I've never seen NiCad or NiMH explode or leak ever, though.

I forgot. When they exploded in the charger, I tossed them.

i exploded 4 9v (1 per day) in my defective smoke detector, but i've never had problems when using proper battery rechargers to recharge.

Which is good, considering i change batteries more than once per month...

I have 12 AAA NiMH batteries--2 sets of 4 for my TI-89; 2 sets of 2 for my digital voice recorder. (The extra set is kept charged and used as a backup.) I still use alkaline batteries in my older calculators since I almost never touch them (it doesn't make sense to buy extra rechargeable batteries unless you run them down often enough to displace the cost of buying the equivalent number of non-rechargeable batteries).

I have a zillion AA rechargeable batteries because I have a zillion AA battery operated devices and, they go through them fast. :-)

i have seven calculators and three of them use rechargables. however as far as that goes i have to recharge them about 4 times a month. i use the keyboard and all of the accesories for my 83 plus's so of course after 48 hours of always on they run low.
final fantasy 0.098 leveling up chars is easy using a rubber band on the 2nd key but after 2 days it drains the battery.

the poit of 7 calculators is that they do diff things. one plays music, one types notes, three play games, and the other two are for math problems.

very interesting to be able to use seven with 2 hands
