Heck yeah!
A nerd w/o a significant other is alone in this world, and no one should be alone!
If you don't have one, get one!

No nerd is alone, you can always load slashdot on your own mozilla build from modified CVS source as of the last time your cron script for it ran...

Yep! My SO is an agglomeration of silicon, fiberglass, plastic, aluminum, steel, copper, and various ceramics. It never even asks for my calculator. I have to tell it I want it to have my ROM. Ah... such is the life.

(actually my SO doesn't even ask, although she could if she wanted to. she said that calcs are only good for solving problems, and i couldn't come up with a good retort quickly. my problem? i can't fit a computer in my pocket. so i guess that she's right. oh well.)

Then there's the problem of the monitor.... Those glasses-mounted monitors seem to be very cool. (But I need a prescription one!) Sadly, however, they're too expensive. Forget the whole "looks uncool" thing, that's what I want!

Umm, never, EVER would I let anyone borrow it for that long, she can use it, but not keep it for a day, it is my life (well... what I have of a life...).

I'm starting to notice a pattern in the surveys...
I guess they're trying to point out the obvious...
The fact that we're almost all loner calc nerds...
Interesting...monotype, all of these lines ends...
They all end at the exact same point..until now...
No, that one matched, too...wierd, huh? really...
Wow, that's sad, now i'm just rambling so lines...
So lines all match up, even though it wont show...
It wont show up monotype when I post it, so the...
So the effort is wasted...But I know I am right...
So ha! Anyhow, that shows how much a loner calc...
Nerd I am, working hard so that all these lines...
Match up, and getting completely off subject of...
What this topicwas really suppossed to be about...
The fact that they're trying to show that we're...
All loner calc nerds, no life beyond going here...
And actually replying to the survey about calcs...
And sharing them with our non-existent sigother...

Ok, I'm done...sorry.

If you notice, this war seems to be affecting not only the markets and iraq (I will not get political here, I am anti-war, but flame war pointless) but the whole society. I think of huge conspiracy theories in these kind of situations...

Instead of squishing together "topic" and "was", you could have taken the second 's' out and made it "supposed", which is the correct spelling.

Sorry...I was very...bored. :P

Basically, I said that they're trying to subtly drill into our heads that because we are calc-obsessed nerd-phreaqs, the odds of us having a Significant Other are slim-to-none...

Which doesn't make sense, since if we realized that we might all stop coming here, and try to get real lives.

Naahh.

(And yes, I realize I'm a terrible speller...sorry. :P)

I don't understand 83+s either. I guess I'm spoiled on my 89.
Funny.... One person said "have no calculator" already. Why???

Because they have no calculator. Or they are just fooling around. Maybe no_one did it, and it's just a flaw in the server?

no_one? Me? No, I still have my TI-82, and I'm not idiotic enough to lie on a survey vote.

my mom understands the 83+ (to some extent), although she owns an 85, which is actually quite different (well, its menus are very different anyway)

The menus and the screen are the big differences. Most everything else is close enough to compare similarities easily.
