I voted for none.

But should POTM be brought back, I hope the archivers do a better job of featuring programs.

It is actually a collaboration or filearchivers and news editor that determine "featured" programs.

I say the newsletter. I can decide for myself which programs I like. It would be pointless for me, esp if it were basic. I ignore all the baisc programs that are uploaded. But I hardly like any of the featured progs. Except Phoenix. PHOENIX RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to know which two people voted "none". Personally, I would like to see the PotM back online more than the newsletter, but I voted "both" anyway. When was the last PotM award?

Huh, now there's 3!

I think the last POTM award was in June of, like, 1999 or something like that.....??

I agree. POTM is fun, and since we get to vote for them ourselves, it's... more interactive.

I agree since it would involve public opinion and show the games that the majority like, not just the staff.

I remember, way back when, when they had the PotM and the newsletter. And when all of a sudden I stopped seeing PotM items, I thought hmmmm, what happened? Then I totally forgot about the whole thing until now. I think both should be brought back, even though back then I didn't want the newsletter, I do now. It would also be nice to see what others think is the best porgram. Was anyone else here when the PotM was still around?

How could you have been around when they had POTM? Your user ID is over 40000!

I know, I just signed up a month ago. But I've been here for years, I just had never had the time to say anything in the surveys or news items. I was around when they were doing the last year or so of the PotM, and it was the PotM that inspired me to d/l MirageOS for the first time. Ahhhhh, good times.

The same with me. I was here for so long, before I signed up. I never got an acount because I did not have any programs programmed. It seemed -- I don't know -- wrong to have an account just so I could post. Though it is not as if I have a lot of programs uploaded now :)

Ditto here. I finally bothered to sign in when I wanted to send a TI-Basic program I had rewritten for the TI-89. I had some programs archived here already, but I don't recall uploading them.

I was a complete n00b when I first started... oh, about 1.5-2 years ago (can't really remember).

"What's this ASM stuff?"
"How much does that link thing cost?"
"What's phoenix?" LOL

Ack, you're making me feel old. I was here about 3 years ago, which was definitely before they had the site redesigned to the current one.

Yeah, same here. I started coming here at the end of 1999, probably around October. That was when I was about to get my first calculator. Man what I did to that TI-83+. Lets see, the first day I had it I had already leaked 2K of RAM and crashed it twice. Before I got rid of it, I think it had crashed around a total of 50 times. Man, what we do to our calculators!

Does this mean that if they get a good enough response for POTM that they'll start doing it again? Because, I'd really like to see that. It shows the site is alive to have all sorts of updates like this.

I also have another question, though this one isn't really related--Every time I get into my IE browser, the Text Size is automatically set to Smaller. I have to go in and change it every time because it looks really bad. Is there any way to make the Normal sized font the default instead of Smaller? It's been a pain for over three months or so now.

That is really strange. You could try downloading the latest version of IE from windowsupdate.com, although my 6.0 isn't that stable either. Or try the mozilla browser, which lets you set the minimum font size in Edit, Preferences, Appearance, Fonts, Minimum Font Size. If you're like me, reinstall Windows whenever it starts acting up.

PotM is already in existence!!!
Seaborgium  Account Info

I think we need to bring back the newsletter or possibly the articles. I am willing and have several already on hand. Also The Program of The Month is already in existence as stated in the above subject line. It is the "Featured Program(s)". About every month or so, conviently enough, there is some new program. Something else that might be nice is a program rating system. That way we know which of the 1000 83 Plus tic-tac-toe games are the good ones. We really need to do something about the archive. OK, enough rambling. Someone else say something...

END TRANSMISSION

Re: Archive listing system
yahoolian

How about for the archive listings, they list only the <N> most downloaded files and putting the rest in a [More...] link? This could really reduce the download time and save some server bandwidth in the process.
