Welcome to the Vortex 1.1
This is a Game. In BASIC. For the 92 plus. It is the stuff.
The Vortex was written mainly in U.S. History last year when Case and myself were not playing chess among ourselves and our calculators. We both decided that writing a game is much more interesting than listening to that guy put us to sleep.
Well, we almost finished it at the time Case graduated. Then development kinda stopped. You know how trying to program in the summer is... Well, school comes back, and as i sit and stare at the innumerable errors generating from this blasphamous thing, i realize that there is a significant portion missing from the AI. Alas, Case knows not of this missing link. I stare at the quasi-endless lines of code, and finally decipher what Cantcas was too lazy to do, and it now functions. Functions nicely.
The game is fairly straight forward. F1 attacks. Q is the teacher key. All other keys are understood standards. Bug Free™.
Known thingeys that you might not like:
- If you ESC from a level, it takes you to the main program, not the home screen.
- Cash is worth more than health.
- Score is now kept. It is compounded by the world.
- Score still doesn't mean too much, since there is not an effective way to keep high score that you cannot alter.
- If your health is greater than 100, then it decreases until it reaches 100.
- Generating new levels is Slow.
- If you don't touch the calculator while it genereates levels, it will turn off once it returns to the game.
- The more you move, the less they move.
- The slower you move away from these guys the faster they kill you.
- When the enemy blinks, that means it is hurting you. Run.
- The enemies can attack diagonally. Even if there is a wall around them.
- No 89 Port.
- This means that it won't work for the 89. At all.
- If for some reason that it errors out, restart the program and quit and restart.
Written by Case and Coleman. All former licensing stuff would go here, but this is a calculator. You can't hurt a calculator with a buncha If...Then's. Print it, eat it, wear it, use it as target practice. It doesn't matter. This is free in all possible interpretations. give due credit when credit due give.
To Do: (arranged in ascending importance) 89 port? C port.... mmm.... C.... Smaller than small. Quicker than a greased hog in February.
