2. Installation

To use Sim City 2004 on your calculator, you need to have five programs, SC2K4, ZSCBUILD, , ZSCHELP, ZSCROAD, and ZSCSPRITE. Open your linking program and send these five programs to your calculator. To run the program and begin installation, go to [PRGM] SC2K4 and hit [ENTER] to paste onto the homescreen. Press [ENTER] again to run the program. At the title screen, hit [ENTER] to proceed to the main menu. Press [DOWN][ENTER] to select New…. You will be prompted for a name for your city; enter a name up to ten characters long. Press [ENTER] and you will see CitY created! You will be brought to the build mode (see below).

3. Building a City

After installation, the program will show a monetary value and a square cursor. This is the main build mode; you can get to it any time by running SC2K4 and choosing PlaY. At the build screen, use the arrows to move the cursor about the board; press [ENTER] to create an object. Choose one of the nine options on this menu to build. If you choose the road option, you will be taken to another menu that will let you choose exactly what type of road you would like. After you have completed your selection, hit [ENTER]. The object will render, and you can continue to build and work with your city. Pressing [GRAPH] from the build screen will bring up a menu allowing you to run the current simulation, view information about your city, view the graph of your city's progress, or quit the program. Press [2nd] from this menu to return to normal build mode.

4. Running a City

To run a Sim City 2004 simulation from build mode, go to [GRAPH][Y=], which selects >, Run.If this is your first time using the run mode, you will get to choose a tax percentage from 1 to 100 percent. Hit [ENTER] and the simulationwill run. This tax level will be maintained throughout the simulation. People will now move in and out of residential areas; the more residents, the more commercial and industrial jobs will be filled. The citizens prefer “luxuries” like parks, ponds, police stations, fire departments, and hospitals. A low tax level encourages people to move in but may not give you enough revenue. A higher level discourages people from moving in but gives you a high revenue for those people who are already there. The sprites onscreen will change in real-time as people move in and out; it will not do a complete render each time someone moves in or out.

5. Goals in Sim City 2004

The goal in Sim City 2004 is to make money while convincing people to move into your city. You win when every residential area is inhabited and every commercial and industrial job is filled. If you run out of money, you lose. The better your city is and the more luxuries you have, the more people will like your city and move in. If you have less, they will not like it as much and will move out. If you win, take a screenshot of your city and send it and LSC to me; I will put you in the official high scores list in this readme. Enjoy!
