All right first response!...

At my high school a TI calculator is required for all math courses from Geometry and up. They give you an 82 if you can't afford one but only a couple of people use those. I have an 89 and have used it last year and this year in Algebra II. Most people use their calcs for math. There is one guy who plays 89 games in all of his classes...but that is they minority

I do math or science problems on it most of the time except in chem where I have a 108% and write programs while the teacher is lecturing on the same old stuff.

I use my 89 for all of my math classes and in chemistry class for all of the various computations that have to be performed. But most of the guys at my school use their calculators for games, myself included. I also use my calc to write my own programs.

I use my calculators for all but the last option. I also use it for taking history notes, which I then download to my computer, format, and print for notebook checks. Lately, both programming and games have taken a back seat to my enormous amount of homework, however.

My school supplies a TI-83 for all students to use. but every one knows they suck. Most people buy their own Ti-83+. Some hae Ti-86's. And a few loser's have Ti-82's. And some loser's (bottom of the class level) use Casios and HP's. I mostly use my Ti-92+ and Ti-83+ for math, and accaustionally games. I also use it to program my wn BASIC programs. I am not the greatest programmer, but the best by far at my school. By the way all of you brag about using your Ti-89's, why didn't you just buy a Ti-92+ at staples, it comes with a link cable and is only 15 dollars more? oh well, guess nobody relizes how great they are.

Hey man, there is a great reason that poeple take the TI-89 over the TI-92+. Pop each of em on a scale and you'll see what I mean...

I think it would be much easier to carry around the small compact 89. The 92s just seem heavy and cumbersome.

Here's another big reason: QWERTY keyboard, can't use on standardized tests.

Actually, there are a few standardized tests that won't allow the 92(+) but will allow the 89.

not that i'm condoning anything here but: the 89 case is exactly like the 83+ case. the only difference is two little plastic posts that are not even needed.
all ya need is a torx screwdriver.

That is quite possibly the dumbest thing I have ever read in my life. Don't ever post something that moronic again. It's a waste of time I could be using to play games on my TI-83. Big 83!!! 92 and 83+ suck!! I love Jesus!!!

I considered doing that, but then I realized I'd have to remember where all the buttons are, and my warranty would fly out the window.

I have taken both the AB and BC calculus college entrance exams. (And scored 5's on both) 89's are quite allowed. The QWERTY keyboard calculators are illegal.

The ti-83 plus isnt on a qwerty keyboard and i once asked the teachers at my school if i could use it on the ACT and stuff and they said it was fine.

also i usually see people using mostly t-83/ti-83+. it seems to be a lot more simpler with out so many menus and such

The TI-89 is much more powerful. The symbolic manipulation is very powerful.

Ahem?

Losers carry Casios?

I'll ask you to take that back right now, young man. ^_^
