1440x900; hasn't changed from last year (maximum my LCD supports).

But since that's not listed, and I don't have any current plans for a new calculator, “becoming a better programmer” was the closest match for me.

Lol I still use a CRT monitor. I have two LCD screens but one is 15 inch only and the other one is 37 inch and is too far from the PC. Aside from that I currently use a 17 inch CRT and I got another 15 inch one. All have a max resolution of 1280x1024, except the big LCD screen, which is 1366x768 max

Actually, make that 1440x900-1... I just discovered a dead pixel. :-) (This is the first time I've ever seen one, oddly enough.)

I wish that my New Years Resolution could be that high...but too bad the 15-year-old CRT I use can only handle 1024 by 768 without blowing up...

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I was stuck with a 1024x768 resolution and a crappy blurry monitor for a really long time before I was finally able to get a decent one.

Buy two more calcs.

So far I got TI-73 (non-explorer), 80, 81, 82, 83, two 83+ (one has busted link port), TI-83+SE (the calc that drains batteries in 2 days of non-use), TI-85, TI-86, TI-89 Titanium, TI-92 I, Casio FX-7000G and Casio FX-9750G. I plan to get two of the followings: TI-84+, TI-84+SE, TI-Nspire (non CAS), Casio FX-9860G+ and/or Voyage 200.

If I manage to find one of the super rare TI-92 expansion kits (preferably the Plus Module) I might get this instead if it's not too expensive, then I would end up with a 92+ HW1

TI-81 (one regular, one which is the ViewScreen model, and another broken one)
TI-82
TI-82 Stats
TI-83
TI-83 Plus (translucent blue)
TI-83 Plus Silver Edition
TI-84 Plus (regular black, and translucent)

Ha! I have exactly twice as much calculator power as someone!

Yeah, two 84+s for me. I think I'll need to get an 89 soon, though.

Do you also have one that came in a box saying "Collect them all!", or was that your own idea? :p

Poor TI, how are they ever gonna make a profit with customers like you... ;)

wow never heard of this one. I know about the TI-59 and TI-99 but not the 57. I am curious if there are any TI calcs besides graphing ones that are able to make games, at least as good as you could on a TI-80 or 81? I know they wouldn't be played much though, since non-graphic programmable calcs were not used a lot in schools

It is not really a "game," but I used to try to make my TI-36X Solar make fake numbers by covering the solar panel for a while. I got things like numbers that were not in proper scientific notation, or numbers that would have >59 minutes or seconds when converted to degrees-minutes-seconds, & they would act like different numbers depending upon which operations were applied. That would probably work on any solar-powered calculator unless it had a brown-out detector.

The TI-36X Solar also had a self-test (other people from my high school called it a "screen saver") accessible by holding the 4 buttons in a square in the lower left corner & pressing ON/AC.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: What is your New Year's resolution?

I did something similar a couple of years ago with an old Casio QA-100 time calculator. It wasn't solar powered, but I could get strange results like that by removing the watch battery for a while and putting it back in without pressing the Reset button that you're supposed to press after replacing the batteries. A lot of times it would function normally, but often the display would be temporarily scrambled, the clock would show strange dates (like 1/0 or 0/0), and the value stored in the calculator memory would sometimes have letters or spaces in the value. I found out that it has 16 characters in its “character set”: the digits 0–9, of course, then a dash, the letters A and L (normally used to show the “AL” alarm indicator when setting the alarm), and four blank space characters.

Then there was the time I took advantage of a quirk of my VCR (caused by aging of the mechanism which causes rewind to often be very difficult) to cause the tape counter to go past the 9h:59m:59s mark it was intended to and show other characters in place of the first ‘9’. This allowed me to map out the entire on-screen character set of that VCR model... but that's too long of a story to recount here. Now maybe if we could discover another loophole that would unlock ASM programming on it. j/k
