I think I'm one of the few of those people here who doesn't study cs in university. I study automation and systems engineering.

Always happy to submit surveys. I've got some good ones I've been sitting on if any of the staff really want to delete a bunch of invective-filled posts.

What, ones like "Which is better for calculator development: Windows / Linux / OS X"? We'd have at least 20 pages of flamewars with that one...

I, too, would have to say Windows. I really like Linux, but TI Flash Studio (oh, no, not more flames) is fairly nice.

Then again, if a Scheme (yay, still more flames) -> calculator program converter were to be made for only one of the OSes, I would suddenly say that one is best. :)

Unfortunately, most of the good development tools *are* written for Windows. However, we've got TiLP and TiLEM (although still no programs like Assembly Studio!), and a lot of the stuff like CalcGS works perfectly under WINE.

Incorrect grammar. It should be: Emacs are my IDEs.
Sorry, that's the kind of grammatical mistake that annoys me the most.

Except that emacs is a singular noun.

You probably should have included an option for "Yes, but not directly," since many of us here have or are pursuing degrees in a field closely related to math.

Aerospace engineering here.
