My calculator runs off of the miniature nuclear power plant that I built in the third grade.

ok... XD.... mine uses 4 size AAA 950mAh 1,2V Ni-MH rechargeable batteries... they can last 3 months with very intensive use... Duracell Ultra (non-recharchable) last 1 month with that kind of usage... so... since rechargeable batteries cost twice and after 1000 recharges have 80% of its initial max they very cheap!!

I have tried to use rechargeables in my 83+, but they didn't work very well and they kept going dead in the middle of tests. I now use Rayovac Maximum Plus, which last a whole long time and are much cheaper that Duracells.

I sure hope that is a breeder reactor (or cold fusion :)). We would not want any calculator enthusiasts running around with Plutonium, after all. "Student Blows Up City with TI-83+!"

"Student's TI-83+ Comes Alive After Exposure to Mysterious Radiation"

Or: "Radioactive TI-83+ Terrorizes City!"

There are many more possibilities... :-)

(Ah, who cares if some calculator enthusiast IS running around with plutonium...it's not like they could hurt anything with it...)

Uh, I don't think a nuclear power plant that could fit in a calculator would have anywhere near a critical mass of plutonium. ;-)

Well, it would depend on the quality of the plutonium, I think. You might be able to enrich the plutonium to a degree at which a chain reaction could be sustained...

A better way to go would be a miniature fusion reactor. I think those can be miniaturized as much as one might want, as long as the proper shielding and containment time is preserved.

Lemons are better!

I used rechargable batteries! And they SUCK! But I'm a cheap arse when it comes to my calc and don't care if every second batch of rechargables after 6months explodes and leaks in the calc. Just use a Kleenex and problems solve(d). Let us never make a reference to Kleenexes and calculators again, ever.

I played this gameon my calculator that had a sad ending. I started to cry and the tears dropped on the calculator. I cleaned myself and the calculator with some kleenex. :p

So what you're saying is that if something explodes on (or in) your calculator, you need to use a Kleenex to clean it off?

The whole world should switch from fossil fuels to nuclear energy. Nuclear energy is the wave of the future! NEW WORLD ORDER! NEW WORLD ORDER!

I agree almost entirely with your post... However, I believe that fusion power is the "wave of the future".

That said, it is possible I misinterpreted your use of "nuclear," as the term could broadly cover both nuclear fission and fusion....

Down with fossil fuels! NEW WORLD ORDER! NEW WORLD ORDER!

YEAH!!! (Well, except for the problem of nuclear waste, but that's probably better than huge amounts of air pollution.)

Well if everything had gone as planned, and nuclear energy was used for good insead of the cold war, we would probably have a few moon bases by now. We could just dump the nuclear waste on the moon... Fusion energy AND space travel are the waves of the future. NEW WORLD ORDER! NEW WORLD ORDER! (the defense department is probably spying on this, and probably just labeled us as "threats")

Yes, Yes! To the moon and beyond, with fusion power!! Of course, first we must take over (unite, naturally...) the world! NEW WORLD ORDER! NEW WORLD ORDER!!!

(yeah, we're real threats, aren't we. You'd think the DoD would have something better to do than spying on the likes of us...like accurately locating terrorists, for example. Just a thought, at least...)

Heck if we unite the world, hopefully people will get over their national pride and start working together. Then we would have radical new forms of energy, we would cure world hunger/oppression, maybe have developped technology to find those terrorist instead of relying on "intelligence", and have calculators with memory comparable to PCs. We wouldn't need to stop at the moon or beyond, we could think big space travel-wise and calc program wise! But national pride just has to get in the way doesn't it... And if the DoD is reading this, maybe you should actually start capturing terrorists like Bin Laden, instead of spying on your fellow citizens.

Hm... I don't know if there's an English word for "rechargable battery", but in German, it would simply be wrong because "Akku" is the right word.

Hm... "Akku" is just the abbreviation for "Akkumulator" or english: accumulator ^^

Actually, English does have a word for "rechargable battery". The word it uses for "rechargable battery" is "rechargable battery". ;)
