Another survey in the series of "ticalc.org website" surveys. Sorry it wasn't up sooner, I was in the midst of traveling (And without an Internet connection! Otherwise, it's 10mbps+).

And it's the 15Mbps one too! The funny thing is my college connection is still faster than that...

I think you may be confusing bits with bytes.

...which would be 6KBps. kbps/Kbps is kilobits per second.

Mistake?

Haha, us being the nerds we are, we should note that this survey does have an error =P

10mbps would be 10 "millibits per second"... Which would mean you can download 1 bit every 100 seconds... Not very fun, take my word on that (It'll take you hours to dl small text files), lol

The correct unit we should use would be 10Mbps (10 megabits per second) =] Just thought it was kinda funny how we missed such a mistake on a site like this

I AM the Internet!!!

I'll infect every Internet Explorer-user...
Get Firefox if you don't want to be destroyed!!!

Mwuahahahahahahahah... *evil echo*

When will (a kind of) Firefox be available for the z80/USB calcs? It would be marvellous to have a connection with me, the Internet, via USB...

Well Michael Vincent, you finished Emu8x so you've got time enough to figure it out...

*goes back to infect more IE-users*

Mwuahahahahahahahah...

I thought he meant new OS & new browser...at least, that is what I would do if I wanted world domination...I would use only my own code & public-domain code so no one could bother me with licensing to stop me from rising in power. Then again, I have better things to do than take over the world.

Yes, you are correct: new OS with new browser.

But, better things to do than take over the world?!?

<sits and stares mutely at computer screen for several minutes>

What could possibly be more...more...satisfying than taking over the world?

Thanks, but no. Ill wait for Google OS....'till then Ill just laugh at all the poor Windows users who dont have a single Acid2 compliant browser for their OS, whereas KDE Linux has one, and Mac OS X has one

Isn't the browser integrated with the OS the biggest problem with IE?

It wouldn't be a problem if both the browser and the OS itself weren't like Swiss cheese (security-wise)...

All people want is an OS and a browser that works and keeps them secure. The average user could care less if it's integrated or not.

I agree. I set up a Linux box for my mom at home. It runs Gentoo with GNOME & Firefox. The only problem she has now is installing all those plugins to view the stuff she wants (now if only Flash would work on my 64-bit Gentoo system here at school...:(), but she would have the same problem with IE (or else it would rapidly become spyware-filled like my dad's XP box :)). Otherwise, it is just fine for her for just browsing the Internet & IMing me (Gaim for that).

IE isn't removable, only with 3rd party software like XPlite.

But if one uninstalls the IE core or just the browser, many applications won't work (correctly) anymore.

I don't bother if an OS ships a browser with it, that's just a feature no usual OS should miss. But MS made IE unremovable and so it's no longer a feature anymore.

The browser isn't really integrated with the OS for everything. It isn't integrated for the internet and the only part of Internet Explorer that is bad is the internet part (which is almost all of it, hence the "Internet" part of its name), and you can change the default browser to Firefox.

I am not so sure about Firefox, but I bet Links would work nicely (well, at least better) on the calculators.

Firefox won't run most games and refuses to play some media streams. Stick with IE.

...and the mouse trails work in it too!

what is this block with FF and IE being the only broswers? use Opera or Netscape, or Mozilla....of course if your on Mac use Safari, or on Linux use Konqueror....then there is Camino...there are tons of browsers, find the one you like best and stick with it, but dont argue
