Ok Jon I have to say it. If you thought up and survey and are posting it, you need not post these. :-) At least it has never been done that way before you...

I do it so there isn't a competition for the first post, it's not because I need extra attention :P So hopefully, I'm setting a precedent, but we'll see.

whether or not he was aware of the previous survey, because the survey that you are referring to is so old, this current survey is still valid.

Actually, that survey asked about eBooks in general, not on calculators.

I do not believe I have ever seen the percentage of one option at 100% before. Anyway, does having read a single e-book count? I read the Screwtape Letters on my calculator for English class. It bothered the teacher, but it was fun, & it saved me the cost of the book.

Being 1/3rd of the Ticalc community, I voted NO.

I read "Alice in Wonderland" and "True Names" on my TI-89 in eighth grade, but not since, so I voted no. Now if the ebook reader allowed annotation....

TI-Reader by TI allows annotation. It's cool, but kind of slowerr than TICT EBook Reader. I read part of Utopia, but then then i stopped because my dad got me the actual book (i needed it for English), and it was a better latin translation than the EBook. I also got the US constitutuion as well. I use it all the time now. TI-Reader is cool. You can translate any .txt or .html (I think) document into an ebook. I don't use it, because it's a hassle.

No. While eBooks in general are a very nice concept, it's still more relaxing for me to read print on paper than pixels on LCD.

I tried out the TICT eBook Reader, and it's very nice and useful software. However, unless the book costs a lot or is simply not worth buying, I'm going with print.

Btw is this a 68k-only question? Does the z80 series have an eBook reader?

There are many *wannabe* e-book readers for Z80 calculators, but many of them are not known enough to be of any use... just glorified string file readers...

I just use NoteFolio whenever I do it...

I thought Jason was working on an App for the 83+? That was a couple years ago by now, though.

I was. I never finished it though (heh). Actually that was the app that I entered into AppDev...I seriously didn't expect to do as well as I did.

Yeah, I second that. Even on my laptop, with a 15.7" 1280x1024 screen (let alone the little monochrome 240x160 screen in my V200), I prefer hard copy.

I'm (intermittently) working on an ebook system for the 83+... the calculator portion is actually mostly finished, but I suspect the PC portion will take almost as much work to get to the point of being usable by non-assembly-speakers.

I faced a similar lack of motivation when I was doing my eBook reader too.

Making books was simple! You put the text into a VB6 program, click a few random buttons, copy the resulting source into a notepad, throw on the header and footer (which you must know the AppVar format, of course), then run it through TASM, DevPac8x, load to the flash debugger, run a random app to convert it to an AppVar, and it's complete! :-)

On the 86, the Seklorean Shell comes with a special eBook reader, but has some sort of limit... I think 255 page on-calc max... That can happen with a z80 processor...
