I just wanted to say that the results of this could play a huge role if this is going to be done this year. I wouldn't be able to directly add the screenshots like in tha past, but could still organize the system if we all are willing to do this. It is mostly going to be 83 and 83+ stuff this year.

Thanks Jon!

Just google it. I found ones for several different calcs. The site had been contacted by TI saying the ROMs shouldn't be downloadable, but the zips were still there and the only thing that was missing was the extension on the files. You should be able to find some fairly easy. I have a TI-84 SE too and I really wanted VTI to work, I also asked my friend if he could dump his calc too, but he found a ROM online instead.

No you can't. TiLP causes a link error when you try to do a rom dump with a silverlink (at least with my 83+)

VTI has a rom-dumper for the TI-83+ (I think it might be 2.5 as opposed to 3.0, not sure).

Would it work if you used a USB to Serial adapter, or is there something fundamentally different about the cables?

Does rom dump not work on the USB link because the silverlink won't transmit a rom or because everybody is too lazy to make a program for it.

download the source and recompile it. vtisrc.zip in the Win directory. Its in C++ so Macs can handle it. Right now thats what I'm trying to do but we have dial-up so getting a decent C++ compiler is painful and I don't have the time to download one. If anyone has the time to do that though id be really grateful :p

You won't find a beter compiler than XCode (free with Mac OS X).

And VTI probably uses lots of Windows-specific function calls, calls that won't work on a Mac without some work.

You can do it in menus and loops: see Timerize 68k for an example. I even use the animated screenshot feature to make a .mov of the program. (It's really choppy and bad, but kinda cool all the same.)

The way to do animated screenshots for ticalc.org is an animated GIF, and the only way I know how to do that is in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements.

Maybe this could be done more efficiently from a programmers perspective:
- Screenshot your programs or they'll be deleted. (where applicable)
This not only gives an incentive to make screenshots but would remove any dormant programs. Yes, a lot of programs were submitted prior to screenshots existing but weren't those all screenshotted last summer?
Perhaps in the file upload form users should be required to submit a screenshot.

Anyway, I could probably do a few hundred screenshots.
