I love the way that it only takes a minute to read the front page and find out exactly what I want to know about my calculators based on my preferences.

Three cheers for TICalc.org

I find the stuff I want all the time and the website looks much better, I remember when it had a yellow effect with the contents bar on the left now it has like a blue effect.

I really like this site. I go here for my programs and updates every day. I like the preferences too. Every program I could ever find for my calcs is HERE. The services portion is nice, too.

Hey, the site's got a good look and tons of information, but I don't know where to find half of it. I can usually find it after a few minutes of looking around, but that's a pain in the ass. Besides, the server's been incredibly slow lately and that doesn't help me and my poor modem any. I basically come here for files and news items these days, because anything else I want to find is buried in the site.

I agree. This is by far the best TI site on the Internet, and one of the best ones I've ever been to. The problem here is that there's simply TOO MANY PROGRAMS! Who knows if there's a tiny little BASIC game buried away in the bowels of the site thats faster and better than any Assembly program ever made (anyone download my 83P0ker game? :-), would the Editors even know??? On the front page where they display the new files uploaded, they definitely need some sort of rating/recomendation system like "5 stars" or "Editor's Choice" so people immediatly know which files you should take a look, at regardless of what type of file you're even looking for (anyone download my AlgebraZ program? :-). This would especially be helpful for math/science programs, since those of us without one of those cheap-ass TI-89's don't have many good ones to keep on our calculators; we need help.

yo i have nothing against u, but i have something against calling a TI-89 a "cheap-ass" calculator. yeah there aren't many math/science progs for it, but face it: graphing calculators have become game boys! do you think this site would be here if calcs couldn't have games on them? i don't think so. do you think TI would add ASM support to some calcs? nope. how about Ti itself?? it wouldn't have such datailed info and large sections of the website devoted to graphing calcs.
thats my opinion

Are you trying to imply that ti somehow supports their calculators?

We /do/ have featured programs. Those are the interesting ones (as decided by Nick, hehe), and they have green fileinfo icons next to them. :) Just like "editor's choice."

I agree that it is difficult to sort threw all the basic math and science programs. But there are like 10 programs that do all the same thing and I just want to know which is the best and the smallest(because it doesn't list the .8xx program size on the archive list).
The featured programs don't help because there are only about 1 for every 100. And reviews don't help because there arn't very many BASIC reviews.
I think that making many more sub-directorys for closly related progs when there are say, 5 or more, and rating each one from best to worst(or maybe just in order of # of downloads).
But why do you even need to list inferier progs that do the same thing. If one basic program is better than another, smaller, and has all the features, just deleate the poor quality one.

First of all, making subdirectories for common program types is slightly impractical. There are currently 381 directories in the filesystem, and organizing everything only gets more difficult with each additional one.
As to deleting the programs that are inferior, who am I to make that judgement? One program may have features that are useless to me and my usage patterns, and yet a gift from God to others.

The site map (About :: Site Map) is usually pretty good for finding general info locations, and the search engine also works well for keywords.

Interesting that no one's voted "No, it's too difficult to find." Should I be suspecting a conspiracy?...

I like the site layout and organization, but it could have more organization and could have more screen shots and application info. I'd like more reviews also. The reviews that are already here are small and I want to see more larger, in-depth ones. The search could be better also, it's sometimes hard to find information.

I agree. I wish for more screenshots and reviews. One thing that ticalc.org needs is a better search engine. Not to be to greedy, but it would help. I know that when I am looking for a specific program, across all calcs, the search has errors. Not a big problem...just something worth mentioning. I love the setup of the site, all the daily news, and the easy uploading system. There is my two-cents.

It might be neat if every program had at least one screen shot. It is always nice to see what a program looks like before you download it.

TI's Graph Link Program has a super-cool-screen-shot-getting feature on it. You can then save the sreen shot it retrieves onto Ticalc (I pronouce it "Tie" and "Calc"), but how to, I don't know.

With the new TI-SShot utility, it shouldn't be too hard for ticalc to find people who would be willing to make a bunch of animated screenshots for different calculators. That would help the archives a lot.

ticalc.org does have good organization but one problem is the amount of information on programs is very limited. Better reviews would really help. I search down the list of programs and I would say that about only 25% of them have a small description, others just say the name. A description that says more like what the game is about would help.
