Sadly the old server is NOT up for sale. I wonder if it will be someday?

You could open the museum of ticalc.org, with the old server and illustrations about the evolution of the site :)

Hey, good idea. :) There could also be a section for old TI technology, like the TI-81, TI-85, and other discontinued calculators. And links to memorable moments.

Actually, the cake wasn't that off :) It looked pretty good. I usually use alt 0,1,6,0 for the blank parts where you can't use space, but it's still never the same without the <PRE> tag, which you can't use. Oh well... gotta love monospaced fonts. :)

Hey, that's what my web browser's default monospaced font is set to.

My default OpenOffice.org (what I use instead of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) font is set on Book Antiqua right now [subject to change :) ].

Wasn't the greatest fan of the word processor.

Use Textmaker now. - well worth the money in my opinion. The best I've used on an x86

I actually have a Ti-85. It doesn't work too well and i don't use it now that I have an 89, but it still does exist and function close to normal. There's just two rows of pixels where nothing shows up...

my 83+ just recently went crazy during a math test... it was like the list edit menu but with 10 columns... also every other 8 pixels was whited out and the whole screen was covered in shifting lines. i fixed it though by hitting clear 100-200 times and resetting the ram.

over the past couple of months, i've found that the simplist way to fix an 83+ is just to hit the keypad with your fist really hard. then it will usually work for a little while

Pull out the battery.
Press [DEL] while putting it back in
Load new opperating system for another calc.

or

Pull battery
Press [ALPHA] while reinserting battery.
This make that calculator run through some kind of flash check thing, bit by bit. This only works when the calculator is realy shoot.

Is the second one like [mode]->[alpha]->S->[enter]? I think that one makes a good prank. Just tell some idiot that their calc will do something cool if they press that series realy fast and zoooom, their RAM is cleared.

Nah. Let me explain how i figured this out and maybe that will clarify things. I was loading on a new operateing system (v1.16 to be precise) and the batteries went dead. When I get new batteries the calculator comes on and says waiting for operating system or something like that. So I go to put it on again but it just stops because it is thinking that I already have operating system 1.16 (which I do sort of). So basicly I'm stuck with half of an operating system. I decide to mess around and descover that if when the calculator is off if I hold down [ALPHA] and turn it on a screen pops up that says Checking Flash and a number that starts counting up from 0.

Pull out your TI-89 and use it instead...

That's what I do, because at the start of the test, my teacher makes sure I don't have my TI89 out.

Yeah, except when the batteries blow up and leak and ruin your TI-89.

Solution? Get a V200...

I've never had any problems with my old calculators (TI-81, TI-82, TI-85, TI-86) even though the oldest one is 10 years old. Except the TI-82 does sometimes show a vertical line of pixels in the middle of the screen missing, but not very often. Then again, I don't touch those calculators much, so I don't know for sure.

Oddly, my newest calc (TI-89) has more cosmetic wear and tear than my older calculators. :) It works perfectly, though.
