Definitely discussion boards. I voted both, but discussion boards are easier to use.

Discussion boards are really good (better than most I've seen), but with the mailing lists, if you have a question then you know that there will be a few people that are experts who can answer your question

Well, what's to keep the experts from answering on a discussion board?

In addition to all the other advantages of discussion boards, they also don't have the mailing list problem of out of sequence posts. I've gotten a few mails where the replies come long before the original.

I know it'd be more difficult to set up, but hoe about discussion boards that can work as a newsgroup? something like nntp.ticalc.org shouldn't be too hard ;)

Hmm...

I noticed that the post time for the survey is ridiculously detailed. Down to the millionth of a second. Is that typical?

After flipping thru old surveys, I noticed that the incredibly precise seconds only occur after the 4th, when the new server was installed.

Curses! The empty title bar thingy (as seen in survey 136) didn't work. Darn.

Cool-when I insert a tab char in notepad, then copy it to the subject line here, it makes the subject bar disappear when I post!!! See the top of this comment box.

I'll try that again with out the rest of the stuff there... (where did that come from?)

All I can say is that people are using an escape character to tell the system to place an end of line - and it has nothing to do with html so it must have something to do with the perl.

Hey, do you really want to know that it is?

Don't tell anyone, but all it is s a space. You hold down the alt key, and press "0160". Relaese alt, and voila, no title.

Somehow I don't trust you, alt + etc gives nothing (doesn't work) alt Gr gives what is there now.

     11 October 2003, 14:44 GMT

burntfuse  Account Info

For me, Alt+0160 gave a space-but I tried that before and it didn't work!!!

Actually, it does seem to work-no idea why, when I tried a space with the space bar, then tried posting, it said that the subject field was blank.

Re:
no_one_2000_  Account Info

Well, here is the difference:

space = ASCII 32 (Hex: 20)
blankchar = ASCII 160 (Hex: A0)

The space here is used in the PERL, not the blankchar.

This blank character is the equivelant of right?

Sorry :-[ it seemed to work on another message board on ticalc.org-I think the "program ideas", on the last page. Oh wait, I think I didn't delete the "HeHe :)" before....I'll try again with this comment.....maybe it'll work......

SWEET! Haha... it worked :-D

I know another trick, but it messes up the HTML of the page... so I won't play with that one. I don't know if anybody remembers it, but a while ago, this one guy made the page stretch about 5000 pixels wide or something with his post... it really made the page hard to read from.
