French Verb Conjugator

By Roberto Sanchez

Thank you for downloading my program, French Verb Conjugator, for the TI-83/84+ series of calculators. This is a fully functional conjugation program that is designed to be quick and easy to use. Conjugations for all regular verbs and hundreds of irregular verbs in five tenses are included. This program should prove invaluable to any student of the French language or anyone who needs verb conjugations with the portability of the TI-83/84+ calculators.

Requirements:

This program requires at least 9600 bytes of free RAM on your calculator. The program uses a minimum amount of variables, but all String variables must be unarchived, as this program uses most of them. Also, this program automatically sets graph dimensions for its own use, so if you wish to graph functions after using this program, reset the graph dimensions using Zstandard.

Controls:

You can start the program FRENCHVB from the PRGM menu or from MirageOS.

After the introduction screen, you will be brought to the conjugation screen.

Use the keypad to type in the verb at the verb prompt. Note: You don't need to press the Alpha key to enter the letters. If you need to make corrections while you type in the verb, press the Del key to delete a character. To choose the tense you want to conjugate in, press the left and right arrow keys to select from the Present, Past, Future, Imperfect, and Subjunctive tenses.

Then, press the 2nd or Enter key to conjugate the verb. The full conjugation of the verb in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd person singular and plural forms will be displayed. The conjugation from the previous verb will also be cleared.

To clear the verb in the prompt and the conjugation below, press the Clear key. Finally, press the Mode key to quit the program.

Bugs:

While I may have programmed for many irregular verbs, there are undoubtedly some irregular verb conjugations that I overlooked. The only possible bugs should arise from incorrect conjugations. Everything else has been completely debugged. If you do find incorrect conjugations, please contact me at rsanchez1990@gmail.com.

Version History:

1.0: The first version released to ticalc.org.

1.1: Some minor improvements to the key handling code drastically improved the speed at which the user can provide input (ie, Typing in and deleting letters is much faster).

The autoerase feature was re-implemented differently, adding only around 100 bytes to the program. However, verbs take a little longer to conjugate (none longer than four seconds).

Final Notes:

This program is a TI-83+ port of my original verb conjugation program for Windows. This program has an easy-to-use GUI and conjugates verbs in the blink of an eye. This program was coded in Perl and compiled into an .exe using perl2exe. You can download it using the following link:
