1. Installation  Before you can play uLtra TOurnaMent II, the sequel to UnreaL TOurnaMent v1.0, you must install the program and graphics engine on your TI-83 or TI-83+. To do this, send all of the file in the program/TI-83 folder to your calculator if you have a TI-83, and all the files in the program/TI-83+ folder to your calculator if you have a TI-83+ or TI-83SE. Once you have done this, run UT2 from the program menu of your calculator. You will be prompted for preferences and the game will then be fully installed. You can play uLtra TOurnaMent II at any time by running prgmUT2.2. Single Player Game  The single player mode of uLtra TOurnaMent II lets you play against the calculator. To use this mode, run uLtra TOurnaMent II, choose PLaY, the level that you want if applicable, and the press [ENTER] to select User vs. Calc. You can move around a 3D world, collect ammo and health, and then battle the calculator. The player that runs out of health first loses; if you win and have automatic level changing enabled, you will proceed to the next level. When you have beat all seven levels, you can play any level. You can collect health and ammo simply by running across the boxes; they will automatically respawn at a new location on the map. The controls for the single player mode are fairly straightforward:
3. MultiPlayer Game  The multiplayer mode of uLtra TOurnaMent II lets you play against another person over a link cable. First plug a unit-to-unit cable into each calculator that will be playing, then start uLtra TOurnaMent II on each player. Select 2 Player on each, enter a either 1 or 2 on each calculator (the numbers must be different) and press [ENTER]. When you see "Connect Now", press [ENTER] simultaneously on both calculators. You can now play. This version is identical to the regular single player mode; the player that loses all his or her health first loses the game. You can collect health and ammo simply by running across the boxes; they will automatically respawn at a new location on the map. The controls for the single player mode are fairly straightforward:
4. How To Play  In order to beat each level of UnreaL TOurnaMent, you must defeat the enemy in that level. You start out with 100 health and 10 ammo. Each shot that hits the enemy removes 5 of its health points. The enemy will shoot back at you, and takes away 10 health points with each hit. The map will show you where you can pick up more health and ammo. Your final score is based on how much health and ammo you have left when the enemy is defeated.5. Troubleshooting“ERR:MEMORY”If you get this error message, it means that your calculator does not have enough memory to run UnreaL TOurnaMent. In order to be able to run UnreaL TOurnaMent, you will need to delete programs from memory. If you do, do not delete UNREAL, ZUNPICREC, ZUNRINST, or ZUNPL1. Do not delete any levels (LUNLx) that you want to be able to play. Also do not delete LUNPRF or you will get an “ERR:UNDEFINED.” “ERR:UNDEFINED” If you receive this message, it means that you have deleted one of the necessary files. If it happens right after you choose a level, you have deleted ZUNPL1, ZPICREC, or LUNLx, where x is the number of the level. If it happens when you choose “Install” from the main menu, you have deleted ZUNRINST. If you have all of these programs, you have probably deleted LUNPRF. To fix this, on the homescreen type “0ŕZnMin” (In [VARS][2][<][4]). Then run UNREAL, and it will reinstall, recreating LUNPRF. For all the other deleted programs or lists, reload the programs to your calculator. “ERR:INVALID DIM” This message will come up if you have deleted parts of some of the lists, or ran the command “ClrAllLists.” To fix it, you must reload the LUNLx lists to your calculator, type on the homescreen “0ŕZnMin” (In [VARS][2][<][4]), hit [ENTER], and then run UNREAL. It may also occur if you have deleted one or more of the Pics. To fix this, run UNREAL and then choose “Install.” 6. How It Works  UnreaL TournaMent runs on the ReaL 3D Engine, available at http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/227/22739.html. It creates the necessary picture files, Pic0-Pic6, when you install or at the beginning of the game, depending on the preferences that you have set. The levels, stored in LUNLx, contain the information for the maps. The 1-100 numbers in each list are the map, 101 is the ammo, 102 is the health, and 103 is the enemy. These are displayed when you access the map during the game (the [MODE] key), and are used to display the 3D environment. The level chosen is loaded in LUNW at the beginning of the game; this is deleted when the game is exited, or the user wins or loses. The automatic level loading remembers if the user beat the last level and loads accordingly. The picture files are recalled to show the 3D environment depending on the following attributes. If you are in the middle of the following table facing upwards, the drawing program, ZPICREC, tests the block to the left, right, and in front. It then tests the block in front for the ammo, health, or the enemy, stored in LUNW(101), LUNW(102), and LUNW(103) respectively. If there is ammo, it displays an “A”; health, a “+”. If it finds the enemy, it recalls Pic6, the enemy.7. Contact Me![]() kerm_martian@yahoo.com |
