I have a job; it's enabled me to purchase lots of TI calculators.

nope, don't have a job. most of the kids visiting this site are under 14 and don't have any job. others are older and in the "programmer" category. the younger kids are in the "download" category. just my opinion.

I think you're quite right, however I think 80% of the people who visit this site probably never submit any program of their own. Right now I have several small part-time computer jobs. Three web site jobs, including my own, and a job training others how to use computers.

I am 16 and have a job. I make money programming:)

Playing with TIs helped as they caused me to get interested in BASIC which led to Visual Basic which led to C++.

Now I make money!

Eww, you let them shove Visual Basic down your throat? For potential programmers out there, it's smarter to learn Delphi rather than VB, because it is more portable...at least you got to C++ eventually. :)

the only similarity between C and C++ is an alsmost identical syntax that is used differentlt in C++, so learning C just to learn C++ would be pointless.

I first programmed in QBASIC also. But VB? Keep it far, FAR away. C++, eh, who needs it when you've got Java.

Java all the way!

It is much easier to program for a calcuator if you have experience in a programming language, and as most are quite expensive, many teenagers don't program for ASM.

Coud you help me with my compiler, I can't get it wporking (tasm, for ion 83+)?

I'm a teenager and I do. BTW, you may wish to redownload tasm, Devpac83, Devpac8x, and maybe Ionguru. All can be found in this site's archives.

You know why most teenagers don't code in ASM? Because it's not fun. :P In some instances, (mostly games), it's good to write ASM programs for a TI, but I would say the bulk of ASM coding is done on computers (not that the calculators aren't..), and is mostly used for the development of operating systems or compilers.

I'm 14, and I understand ASM concept, but I do not wish to memorize hardware dependant codes.

19 y/o college teenager and I have no job. All the talk of the booming San Diego economy and no one here wants a college sophomore...
I can stand ASM program. I still don't know how you all understand it! Oh well, I'll probably will once I get to CS231..

Asm is the only way to get control. and control is fun. SO THERE! ASM IS FUN! ;Þ

I agree, assembly is a lot of fun on the z80 calcs, mainly because of the full control. There's a certain amount of satisfaction that comes out of writing a decent assembly program, that you don't get from other languages. Although writing in assembly for a PC is probably not as fun.

I'm 14, a programmer, and I download stuff. I've never submitted anything to this site though. So, I kinda fit into all of the categories you listed. Not to mention that I wish I had a job, if I did I'd have an 89 or 92+ by now. Oh well, no-can-do about labor laws.
