Good.
Have him buy me a DVD drive.
One that works under Windows 2000.
And 1 GB of RAM, in the form of two 512 MB PC133 ram sticks. 168 pin.
And the best PPGA processor in existence right now.

My address can be found in the WHOIS lookup for nickd.org.
Thank you.

The new version of WinDVD works under Windows 2000 (though you'll need a pretty beefy machine as it's a software decoder).

And, from what I know, a geek is someone who seems to know a lot about technology, and a nerd actually DOES know a lot about technology.

Re: Nerds are good!!!
JaggedFlame

Let's try the dictionary...

nerd: single-minded enthusiast; an enthusiast whose interest is regarded as too technical or scientific and who seems obsessively wrapped up in it (often used in combination; offensive in some contexts)

geek: obsessive computer user; somebody who enjoys or takes pride in using computers or other technology, often to what others consider an excessive degree

You guys figure it out from there.

|£†'§ try my Dictionary… (Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary)

geek \'gëk\ noun:
1) A person often of an intellectual bent who is disapproved of.
2) A carnival performer often billed as a wild man whose act usualy includes biting the head off a live chicken or snake

nerd \'nerd\ [an upside-down e] noun:
An unstylish, unattractive, or socially inept person; especially : one slavishly devoted to intellectual or academic pursuits <computer ~s>

Judging from those definitions I am a nerd (and proud of it), not a geek - although I don't agree 100% with the definition of a nerd, because stylish and attractive are subjective qualities, they cannot be defined in a dictionary, and a nerd can have ª sø硪| |¡ƒ£…

I beg to differ! Geek is bad, Nerd is good! I'd much rather have someone say:
Are you one of those Computer Nerds?
than, Are you one of those Computer Geeks?
Geek sound like someone with pants up to their ribs and all weirded out. Nerd sounds like someone with a brain. like mine :-)

nerd is an avid computer user. A geek is a clumsy nerd. And people with no life are ones that spend time discussing the difference between a nerd and a geek :-)
